The Petzl Speedy is a lightweight Maillon Rapide made of aluminum alloy used to secure ropes to anchors. The gate is known as a “quick-load” gate, whereby the user only needs 4 turns to loosen and drop the gate it is specifically designed for use with bolt hangers.  The gate MUST be fully screwed shut before the speedy is loaded. 

The Speedy made of aluminum, it is NOT a good idea to leave it in a cave as a permanent rigging or a primary rappel attachment, due to its limited loading stipulations.

It is a super lightweight alternative to using carabiners for those deep push trips, where weight saved is energy gained.  Recommended for advanced users.
