The SMC Spider is the newest design in auto-locking descenders for use in rescue and industrial applications. This is a device that gives you the ability to maintain full controll at all times while also having great “feel” when on rope. A lever-activated cam is used to control the rate of descent from rapid or long distances at a quick pace to slow for precise work positioning, releasing the lever at any time during the descent will automatically lock the device, bringing the user to a complete stop.
