These ascenders are designed to be used with 11-13 mm rope. Gibbs ascenders are different than other ascenders, requiring two hands and a bit more involvement to install and remove from the rope. They are designed not to slip in extreme conditions, such as extreme mud and ice.
This #3 Gibbs, the Rescue model, is intended for litter raising and load hauling. It has a thick aluminum shell and utilizes a spring loaded cam system to keep the ascender in tension when raising litters or hauling loads.
Not for use on Steel Cable or wire rope. NEVER use as a rope grab device or for fall arrest, you will cut your rope!
