*NOTE: never use a “bypass” carabiner instead of a belay loop when using ans hanging in this type of harness. There is a myth believed by many who think that the belay loop, which is the strongest part of the harness and typically tests at over 10,000 lbf, is weak and it must be “backed up” or bypassed with a large, strong carabiner.
